One last thing

I have some beers in for the football (if anyone is still awake) but feel feel to bring some, we can drop them off during our travels or make a stop at a supermarket somewhere along the way.

It's all gone wrong and it's the most important part too

it's the food at Lloyds lanes...The deal I was looking at was from about 10 years ago old menu with all meals and a side for £4.25
Also the package deal, we had, now only includes a buffet for 10 people (which in their opinion wouldn't be a meal for 10 adults - more of a snack).

So I've opted out of the deal we are just playing 2 games of bowling for £12:50, everyone has £5 credit and we can decide on the day when and where to eat. If people want to eat at the bowling they can do that individually.

Another idea would be to stop at Subway and take up the £5 footlong and drink deal which maybe better value.

Here's the Lloyds Lanes new menu (emailed to me today)

Here is a breakdown of the food we have on the bar menu .

NACHOS topped with melted cheese, salsa and guacamole £5.95

SHARING PLATTER FOR TWO a sumptuous feast of bbq chicken wings, garlic bread, Cajun baked potato wedges, crudities and houmous £10.45

CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD £7.95 without chicken £5.25

CLUB SANDWICH £7.95

PRIME BURGER BEEF BURGER £6.50 with bacon £7.50

CHICKEN BREAST BURGER £7.25 with bacon 8.25

HALF RACK OF BBQ RIBS £6.95 served with a side salad £8.95

RIB STEAK seasoned with sage and lime, served with rocket and parmesan salad £9.95

SIDES:
Mixed salad £2.75
Garlic bread £2.50
Skin on fries £2.75

Darts rule amendment - this could change everything

Playing a game of darts from 501 is sometimes long enough often with both players praying for anyone to get a double just so the game can finish. Now we'll need both players to get a double before the game can end.

So I'm thinking to make it easier (and quicker) we just count each dart thrown and not have the rule "If you bust this counts as 3 darts regardless of when you went bust."

For example if you took 4 goes to get double 1 this would count as 4 rather than 12 and if you needed 14 and hit 20 then 0 then double 5 this would count as 3 rather than 5

hope this makes sense.....?

Order of play

Golf
Group 1 Andy  H David B David K
Group 2 Rob M Ian W Marv
Group 3 Dave P Ted Nick O Andrew B

Thinking: One driver per group, 1st group David B so he can get away first to setup cricket if we are running late and me unless someone else want to play the 1st shot of the day! The two 3 balls should race away leaving a clear course for the 4 competent golfers in the last group.

Cricket
Batting order
1.Dave B  8.Andy H
2.Marv 7.Ted
3.Nick 6.Ian
4.David P 5.David K
Andrew B Rob M

Thinking: Andrew and Rob need to be last. As there will always be one person that doesn't bowl at you  I have seeded you (based on my perceived threat of your bowling) which means the better bowlers don't bowl at the least experienced cricketers and the better batsman miss out on the weaker bowlers. Dave B gets top seed for having the most kit and Andy H gets 8th seed as he has never played before, the rest I have guessed. (apologies if I have offend anyone - I'll take advice if anyone wants to come forward and declare stronger cricketing skills)

Bowling any order bowling at Andrew B and Rob M
Fielding any order throwing at target.

Bowling, Karting, Darts
Any order, if you want we can put the 5 highest tin pin bowlers together for the 2nd game.

Pool
There is an order of play you will draw a number from a hat to determine your group.

World Cup screen test

World Cup screen and surround sound tested, I was also able to practice the roller coaster of emotions watching Engand's  0-0 draw with Honduras.

Scoring summary to help you decide when to play your joker

Each event will give you an event position: 1st - 8 points 2nd - 7 points to 8th - 1 point
Tied position = average points (1/2 points allowed)
Joker doubles points (excluding bonus points)

Golf: Adjusted Stableford system

Points are awarded depending on how many under or over par you score on each hole. You only need to record shots taken. Your total points score will determine your place in the event.
Event Bonus Points:
Nearest the pin, from memory the 2nd hole is probably best suited for this, measured in putter club lengths.
Longest drive on the 6th hole, I have a printout to mark where your ball lands.

Cricket: in 3 parts bowling, batting and fielding
Bowling - (at Rob and Andrew) 1 point for a dot ball, 5 points for a wicket.
Batting - (last over of your go) 1 point for a hit, 4 for a big hit (wides to be bowled again)
Fielding - throw a cricket ball at a target (quite far away) and we'll measure distance from a target.
Your total points score for each part will determine your place for that part. Your 3 placings will be combined to  determine your place in the event.

Bowling: 2 games combined score

Your combined score will determine your place in the event.
Event Bonus Points:
1 point for 3 or more strikes in any one game (maximum 1 point over 2 games)

1 point if you "convert a split" - where you get a spare after leaving split pins - shown on screen as a box around your first score (again maximum 1 point over 2 games)

Karting: 2 parts fastest lap and race position
Your position for each part will be combined to determine your place for the event.

Pool: Finishing place in table and after playoffs

Group stage then play off, 4 or 6 games each depending on time.

Darts: number of darts for 501 checkout

The number of darts taken will give your place in the event. You may get more than one chance to reduce you number of darts.
Bonus points:  - 1 for highest checkout and 1 for highest score with 3 darts

Cricket scoring more complicated than the Duckworth–Lewis method

A scoring system for cricket nets has been the hardest to work out. I've tried to minimise personal opinions and subjective scoring, different people have different batting styles, some have no style at all but what makes a good shot is difficult to measure especially when leaving the ball is sometime the best shot. Also I didn't want people to spend their whole time trying not to get out.

So I've gone for a combination of 3 skills - bowling, batting and fielding in separate hopefully measurable parts.

To start with we'll all have a go at batting in the nets without any scoring, just an opportunity to have a go and smash some balls about. The last 2 batsmen will be Andy B and Rob and this is where our bowling competition happens. We'll rotate round, all bowling at both batsmen (depending on time) we should get an over to each player.

Bowling, at the 2 guys who have to leave early, 5 points for a wicket, 1 point for a dot ball (if we can agree), your total will determine your place 1st 8 points 2nd 7 points to 8th 1 point (Tied position = average points)

Fielding, from the boundary we'll throw a cricket ball to the stumps, cricket square post if sectioned off or some other marker. How near you are to the stumps will give your place. 1st 8 points 2nd 7 points to 8th 1 point

Batting, this is the hardest one to score, also with 2 people in the nets you may not face the one bowler that gets everyone out, but we need to do something. So at the end of your batting go you'll face an over where your batting will be scored. 8 people will bowl at you and hopefully you'll get 6 playable balls which will count (these can be your best 6 (unless you are bowled out which must count as a playable ball) bowlers will bowl again until they bowl a playable ball or a playable over is reached) Scoring if agreeable 1 point for hit, 2 points for a big hit (would reach the boundary) and -5 if bowled out.  Your total will determine your place 1st 8 points 2nd 7 points to 8th 1 point (Tied position = average points).

The total of the 3 scores will determine your place in the event 1st 8 points 2nd 7 points to 8th 1 point (Tied position = average points).
