Football and free overnight accommodation

The Sportsday now includes a prime location to watch the football and free overnight accommodation.

The UN negotiators have been hard at work and I have secured the use of the summer house, we can watch the football on a 100” screen and now (thanks to Marv) in surround sound, without worrying about how to get home afterwards.

(we may end up staying in the pub for the football, we’ll just go with the flow)  

I have 3 double futons and lots more floor space for anyone who wants to crash before, during or after the football.

Go Karting Booking

I need to make the booking for Go Karting soon, which means making a decision.
This is the first booking that requires a significant deposit and needs a minimum number of people.

The deal is (with a minimum of 7 drivers) we do the GP session (£50), we'll be the only ones on the track, 15 mins warm up then 30 mins race (this seems a long time to me) there is a 10 min warm up and 20 min race for £45. All race stats printed out

Some slots are already booked up - but we still have the option of 15:00 Karting.

I'll send an email out today to asking for a deposit from the definites and chase up the maybes.

Golf Scoring

The Stableford Scoring System Format

The Stableford system of scoring was invented in 1931 by Dr. Frank Stableford of the Wallasey & Royal Liverpool Golf Clubs and the first competition under Stableford Rules was played on 16 May 1932 at Wallasey.

Each player or side plays against the par of each hole and receives points according to how he scores in relation to par.

We will used an adjusted stableford system to keep interest going (shooting a 10 on one hole won't ruin your round)

4 or more over par 3 over par 2 over par 1 over par par 1 under par 2 under par

0 points 1 point 2 points 3 points 4 points 5 points 6 points

Your total point score will determine your place in the event.

Event Bonus Points:

Nearest the pin, from memory the 2nd hole is probably best suited for this, measured in putter club lengths.
Longest drive (and no Nick does win coming from Cambridge), on the 5th hole, hopefully someone will get up near the green an make measuring easy.

Cricket Nets

Thanks to David B's contacts at Long Ditton Cricket Club and the kind offer of supplying cricketing gear we have the possibility of using their cricket nets on Saturday morning. (they do have a match on during the afternoon)

It means moving the go karting to the afternoon which may restrict any lunchtime drinking and I'm not sure if it would be dry enough at 11am (also doesn't have a wet weather alternative) but it is free and on a sunny day would be perfect.

Bowled Over

Charrington Bowl - http://www.hollywoodbowl.co.uk/our_centres/tolworth - has a National  Competition all day Saturday (unfortunately it's too late to enter a team and there was something about qualifying) we can book after 6pm, look at Kingston Rotunda, Lloyds Lanes or scrap bowling and look at a new event.

3 Tee Times 07:56 08:04 08:12 (slots after 8:30 were already booked up) Golf shoes or trainers, "no dress code to speak of as long as you keep your clothes on" - yes that's actually what she told me. However everyone needs their own bag of clubs.    We hope to finish by 10am and be on the road at 10:30.

England's opening world cup football match is on the same day (I don't think FIFA are aware of the clash, I'll let them know) but not to worry it doesn't start till late ENGLAND vs ITALY kick off 23:00
